Travel restrictions and bans are still in place in some states after a blizzard hit the northeastern US.
See the restrictions that have already been lifted and those that remain in effect:
- Connecticut: The ban on commercial vehicles on highways was lifted on Monday (23), said the . He also asked that everyone avoid driving for the rest of the day while crews work to clear the roads.
- Delaware: Travel restrictions are still in effect in Kent and Sussex counties, according to the Delaware Emergency Management Agency. A driving advisory was lifted for New Castle County late this afternoon, the agency said.
- Massachusetts: There is a travel ban on non-essential vehicles in Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable and Dukes counties, Gov. Maura Healey said. There will be a $500 fine for anyone violating the travel ban, State Police Lt. Col. Daniel Tucker said. Restrictions on trucks on interstate highways have been lifted in some areas, the state Department of Transportation said.
- New Hampshire: The speed limit on several major highways in the state has been reduced to 70 km/h, the state Department of Transportation said.
- New Jersey: Restrictions on commercial vehicles and the reduced speed limit of 56 km/h were lifted as of 5 p.m., the state Department of Transportation said. Authorities still encourage people to avoid unnecessary travel.
- Nova York: Some municipalities had travel restrictions in place on Monday. Suffolk County on Long Island and Westchester County had travel bans that were extended but have since expired. The travel ban has not been lifted, but a “dangerous travel warning” remains in effect until midnight, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.
- Rhode Island: The and travel ban will remain in effect overnight, Gov. Dan McKee said. Authorities will reassess conditions in the morning, he added.
