Original series aired between 1993 and 2001, with nine seasons, and returned for two more between 2016 and 2018
The X-Files will get a new version for the screen, eight years after the last episode of the original series. The reboot will be directed and written by Ryan Coogler, from Sinners and Black Panther, at least in the pilot episode, while actress Danielle Deadwyler has been cast as one of the protagonists.
“Two highly decorated but completely different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-defunct division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena,” reads the synopsis for the new version of the sci-fi series. It is produced by Hulu, a streaming service that in Brazil is part of the Disney+ catalog.
The original series aired between 1993 and 2001, with nine seasons, and returned for two more between 2016 and 2018. In addition, it received two films, released in 1998 and 2008. In the plot, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny played Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, the iconic pair of FBI detectives who investigated paranormal cases, aliens and other unexplained phenomena that ended up in the X-File.
The first news about Coogler’s version of The X-Files emerged in 2023, when Chris Carter, creator of the original plot, revealed that the director had contacted him to discuss the possibility of a reboot with a diverse cast.
