Argentine star Lionel Messi admitted that he regrets not studying more when he was younger, especially English, in an interview with a Mexican podcast published on Tuesday (24).
“I regret so many things. I tell my children: not having had a good education, not having learned English as a child”, acknowledged the number 10 in conversation with the podcast “Miro de Behind” (Eye from behind), presented by former Argentine goalkeeper Nahuel ‘Patón’ Guzmán.
The captain of ‘Albiceleste’ and Inter Miami, who will fight for a second MLS Cup title this season, said he had “time to study” and that he “really regrets” not having done it sooner.
“Then you have moments where you’re with personalities trying to talk or chat, and you feel kind of ignorant, you know? I think, ‘What an idiot, what a waste of my time,'” he said.
During the interview, the 38-year-old star, who is expected to lead the world champion team at the World Cup in North America from June 11 to July 19, said he advises his three children to “seize opportunities.”
“I never lacked for anything. My father always did everything, but they have other possibilities”, he observed.
The star born in the city of Rosario, eternal Barcelona idol and with a discreet spell at PSG, also stated that for years he had difficulties with public exposure, but that in recent years he has been “more relaxed”.
“People tend to imagine all kinds of things, but I’m very normal: I like the little things, the details, my own things. I live like anyone else,” he declared.
