Survey evaluated more than 2,500 hospitals in 32 countries
Seven Brazilian hospitals are among the best in the world, according to the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 ranking, carried out by Newsweek magazine in partnership with the data analysis platform Statista and released on Wednesday (25). In total, the survey evaluated more than 2,500 hospitals in 32 countries.
Check out the Brazilian hospitals on the list:
- Einstein Hospital Israelita Albert – 16th place
- Hospital Sírio Libanês – 79th place
- Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz – 105th place
- Hospital Moinhos de Vento – 111th place
- Heart Hospital (HCor) – 146th place
- Santa Catarina Paulista Hospital – 151st place
- Hospital das Clínicas da USP – 189th place
The top five on the overall list are Mayo Clinic (USA), Toronto General-University Health Network (Canada), Cleveland Clinic (USA), Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset (Sweden) and Massachusetts General Hospital (USA).
For the analysis, each hospital received a score based on four criteria: recommendations from healthcare experts, such as doctors and hospital managers; hospital quality indicators; existing data on patient experience; and Statista’s research on Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), which are standardized and validated questionnaires, answered by patients themselves, that assess well-being and quality of life.
In the 2026 edition, the methodology began to give more weight to hospital quality indicators, as explained by Newsweek. The ranking also includes new data on accreditation, quality, safety and patient experience in several countries. Furthermore, for the first time, the survey includes information from the Philippines and Turkey.
