Hugo Calderano and Bruna Takahashi win in Singapore – 02/27/2026 – Sport

The Brazilian duo formed by lovers Hugo Calderano and Bruna Takahashi made table tennis history this Friday (27) by winning the Singapore Grand Smash title.

The first non-Asian pair to reach the final of a competition in the table tennis category, compared to tennis’ Grand Slams, Calderano and Takahashi beat South Korean favorites Jong-hoon Lim and Yubin Shin, leader of the ranking and bronze in Paris-2024, in the decision.

Known by fans as “Calderashi”, the Brazilians won the decision impressively, by 3 sets to 0, with scores of 11/7, 11/6 and 13/11.

The two started playing together in October 2024, at the PanAmericano in El Salvador, when they already won silver, losing the final to the Brazilian duo formed by Giulia Takahashi (Bruna’s sister) and Guilherme Teodoro.

The first title came in July 2025, at the WTT Contender in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In October, they also won gold at the PanAmerican Games in Rock Hill, in the United States.
