Jörg Baberowski, professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin, has made a name for himself with his research on Eastern European history, but also on the history of violence in the twentieth century. In his latest book Past the people the 65-year-old turns to the political present. Baberowski identifies a crisis in liberal democracy. He can understand the anger of FPÖ and AFD voters.
