Live narration of the 2026 Goya Awards begins
Good afternoon. The Auditori Fórum of the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB) hosts this Saturday the 40th Goya Awards ceremony, with which the Academy recognizes the best of the seventh national art. The Barcelona singer Rigoberta Bandini and the actor Luis Tosar, a curious couple, will be in charge of conducting the ceremony that begins at 10:00 p.m. and in which they start as favorites On Sundays, by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, with 13 nominations; Sirât, by Oliver Laxe, with 11, and Maspalomas, by Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi, with 9. Those three compete for best film, along with Dinner y Deaf. For the first time since 1987, when these awards began to be given, the creator of a documentary is also a candidate for best director: Albert Serra is nominated for Lonely afternoons. The quintet of names is completed by Carla Simón, by Romería, Arregi and Goenaga, Laxe and Ruiz de Azúa. At the moment only two people have secured the award: the filmmaker Gonzalo Suárez receives the honorary award and Susan Sarandon, international goya.
