The intervention includes social-animal care and technical monitoring, essential medical-veterinary support, such as vaccination, electronic identification and deworming.
Since its creation, the Vet na Rua project has played an essential role in preventing animal abandonment, acting at the source of the problem: the economic fragility of families.
Maria Luísa Aldim, during the ceremony, said that “this contract is indeed very important for Lisbon, not only for the animals, but for the families that welcome the animals”. The councilor highlighted that the measure is “completely different from the other type of support”, as can be read in the
Vet na Rua also provides intervention at the beneficiaries’ homes or in facilities provided by the Parish Councils, promoting a proximity response. Access to support is provided through signage to the social action structures of Parish Councils and municipal services, ensuring technical criteria and adequate social framework.
The Program Contract also allows formal coordination with 21 Parish Councils in the municipalityreinforcing a territorialized and integrated response in the Municipality’s social network.

Families who need support for their pets can contact the Parish Council of their residence or Social Security services to obtain a certificate of economic insufficiency. This certificate must be sent by email to geral@animalife.pt. All information about the application process is available from
