2 World Trade Center, designed by Foster + Partners, is expected to be completed in 2031

The new 2 World Trade Center is preparing to rise as a 374-meter supertall skyscraper. It is expected to be completed in time for the 30th anniversary of 9/11.

Nearly 25 years after the September 11 attacks devastated Lower Manhattan, reconstruction of the World Trade Center site is nearing completion.

O new skyscraper 2 World Trade Center Construction is expected to begin very soon and will serve as the headquarters of American Express.

As , the 2 World Trade Center skyscraper project has gone through some twists and turns over the years. First, Foster + Partners was hired to design it, before being replaced by BIG. However, the latter also ended up being canceled and Foster + Partners was once again hired to present the current project, which is being developed by Silverstein Properties.

Judging by the presentation images, the building will feature a robust rectangular shape with a glazed exterior interrupted by three terraces and six corner gardens filled with greenery.

As American Express detailed this Wednesday, in , 2 World Trade Center will rise to a height of 373.7 meters – around five times the height of the Clérigos Tower, in Porto.

Will it be the 11th tallest building in the United States. Next door, the neighbor (and original) One World Trade Center is the tallest in the country at 541 meters.

Com 55 floorsaccording to New Atlas, the majority will be occupied by offices. It will have the capacity to accommodate up to 10,000 office workers.

“Moving forward with the final commercial office building at the World Trade Center marks an important milestone for this campus and the region”, praised the president of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Kevin O’Toolecited by the same magazine.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 and is expected to be fully completed in 2031 – 30 years since 9/11.
