The United States Army revealed this Sunday that three US soldiers were killed as part of Operation Epic Fury, which is based on a joint attack by the US and Israel on Iran.
Another five are “severely injured”, reported the US Central Command (CENTCOM), on the social network X.
“Several others suffered minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of returning to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is underway,” CENTCOM wrote.
The entity states that, “out of respect for the families”, it will no longer share information, including the identities of the deceased soldiers.
The Pentagon also recognizes the three deaths.
It is unclear how these soldiers were killed. Iran has been retaliating against US and Israeli attacks, seeking to target US military bases in the region.
President Donald Trump had already warned, in a statement made in the early hours of Saturday, that there could be American soldiers killed during the operation.
