Iran calls for mass rally: People to express support for Islamic Republic and pay respect to Khamenei

Iran’s government has called on people to gather in the capital Tehran on Monday in a show of support for the Islamic Republic and paying respect to the supreme spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who lost his life on Saturday in an American-Israeli attack. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

The call to residents was broadcast by Iranian state television on the third day of Israeli and US attacks, which on Monday vowed to intensify its military campaign against “key elements of the regime” in Iran. In an interview with the NY Post, US President Donald Trump said that the United States “they are proceeding exactly according to plan, even ahead of schedule, as far as the (Iranian) leadership is concerned – 49 killed”, and that the military campaign against the Islamic Republic was to last at least four weeks.

Trump also did not rule out sending US ground troops to Iran if necessary. However, as he added, he does not expect such a deployment to be necessary. Israel and the US jointly attacked Iran on Saturday morning. In addition to Ayatollah Khamenei, several high-ranking representatives of the Islamic Republic lost their lives in the strikes.
