The spokesman for the Israeli Armed Forces stated that “all options remain open” when asked about the possibility of a land operation in the Lebanonafter the opening of a new front of conflict for the country.
O Hezbollah launched six projectiles into northern Israel in the early hours of Monday morning, triggering intense violence in Beirut and southern Lebanon.
In a press conference this Monday (2), Brigadier General Effie Defrin stated: “We have mobilized approximately — dozens of battalions, brigades and divisions — positioned in and prepared for all scenarios, both defensive and offensive. All options are on the table. We are conducting continuous assessments of the situation. All possibilities remain open.”
According to Defrin, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) hit “dozens” of Hezbollah command centers and launch bases, in addition to targeting high-ranking commanders.
Since a ceasefire officially took effect in 2024, Israel has repeatedly attacked Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, accusing the group — backed by Iran — of violating the truce by rebuilding its forces and rearming.
But the IDF’s most recent attacks occur on a much larger scale.
“Hezbollah opened fire last night. We warned it. It will pay a heavy price. We are well prepared,” Defrin said.
