A favorite of the board of directors, Portuguese Leonardo Jardim promised in 2025 that he would only manage Cruzeiro among Brazilian football clubs. “Mister” has been free on the market since the end of last season, when he asked to leave Raposa even with a contract in force.
“I’ll make it clear, what’s news is that in Brazil I’m only going to coach Cruzeiro. That’s real news. I’m not going to coach another club in Brazil”, on August 10, 2025, after Cruzeiro 1 x 2 Santos, in the Brazilian Championship, at Mineirão.
“I don’t know, after Cruzeiro, if I’ll coach another club, or another national team, or something else, but at the moment I’m 100% at Cruzeiro. I have a valid contract, it doesn’t matter at all because my relationship with Pedrinho is more than the contract. But the fans certainly know that I don’t give 80% or 90, I give 100% to this Cruzeiro process, to this club. I’m now a Cruzeiro fan”, he added.
Later, Jardim, 51 years old, cited other clubs he led in his career to defend his position of loyalty to Cruzeiro. “I go to Greece and I’m Olympiacos, I go to Qatar and I’m Al-Rayyan, I go to France and I’m Monaco. In Brazil, I’m Cruzeiro, and I’m not going to coach any other club in Brazil that wasn’t Cruzeiro.”
Portuguese born in Venezuela, Jardim arrived at Cruzeiro in February 2025, after coaching Al-Ain, from the United Arab Emirates. There were 55 games for the celestial team, with 26 wins, 18 draws and 11 defeats.
At Cruzeiro, Jardim had notable campaigns such as third place in the Brazilian Championship and the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil. Also with Jardim, the celestial team was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Campeonato Mineiro and in the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana.
Felipe Luís out
Filipe Luís was fired from Fla in the early hours of this Tuesday (3), shortly after, in Rio de Janeiro, for the return of the semi-final of the Campeonato Carioca. The young 40-year-old coach had a contract until the end of 2027.
There were 100 official games for Filipe Luís at Fla. He took over in the second half of 2024 after working with the under-20s and also as a player for the club.
Filipe Luís has 63 wins, 22 draws and 15 losses. He won Copa Libertadores (2025), Campeonato Brasileiro (2025), Copa do Brasil (2024), Supercopa do Brasil (2025) and Campeonato Carioca (2025).
