The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) authorized this Tuesday (3) federal deputy Alessandra Haber (PA) to leave the MDB without losing her mandate. There were 6 votes to 1 for the decision.
The parliamentarian, the most voted in Pará in 2022, alleged political persecution from her current party. She is married before the 2024 municipal elections after distancing herself politically from governor Helder Barbalho (MDB).
In the process, Haber stated that he suffered isolation within the bench and restrictions on his parliamentary activities. When analyzing the case, the TSE concluded that there was serious political discrimination, a hypothesis that allows the change of party without losing the mandate.
Reporter of the case, Minister Estela Aranha pointed out as relevant the fact that the deputy was removed from the Constitution and Justice Committee shortly after her husband’s change of party and remained for a long period without holding a position on any permanent committee, despite the existence of vacancies and formal requests for reallocation.
On social media, the deputy celebrated the decision and stated that the court recognized what she classified as an “environment of political persecution” against her in the state.
