Vale monitors conflict in the Middle East and suspends travel to the region

A mining company Vale is supporting its workforce in Middle Eastwhere the company has strategic assets, and suspended travel by its employees to the region, while monitoring the impacts of , the company said in a note to Reuters.

“Vale is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and will disclose any relevant developments to the market in due course,” added the company, without giving further details.

Vale has a pellet factory and a distribution center in the city of Sohar, in Oman, with , according to information on its website.

The pellet plant in the country has the capacity to produce 9 million tons per year.

The distribution center is considered strategic for the company, as it is geographically close to Europa, Asia e Africa. Its deep-water port in the region can receive large ships.

The company was also expanding its operations in , with the search for the development of “Mega Hubs” for the production of low-carbon steel in Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
