RIO DE JANEIRO, 4 March (Reuters) – Vale recovered its operating license in the municipality of Congonhas (MG), after complying with requirements established due to overflow due to heavy rains in the company’s mine structures in the region, the local city hall reported in a note this Wednesday.
The city hall’s decision comes after the mining company paid a full fine of R$13.71 million due to the incident.
‘The decision was taken after an inspection by the technical team, which confirmed compliance with the corrective measures established due to the incidents recorded in the Fábrica and Viga mines, in January’, said the Congonhas city council.
Among the actions carried out by the company, according to Congonhas, the most notable are the presentation and implementation of containment measures and cleaning of structures, unblocking roads, cleaning streams affected by waste and updating the emergency plan, reinforcing the AGIR Program and daily monitoring of water quality.
