Brazil ends February with a surplus of more than US$4 billion in the trade balance

Compared to the same month last year, there was a 15.6% increase in the value of exports

Brazil closed the month of February with a positive balance of US$4.208 billion in the trade balanceaccording to data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) this Thursday (5). In the year to date, exports total US$51 billion and imports, US$42.9 billion, with a positive balance of US$8 billion.

Exports totaled US$26.306 billion, and imports, US$22.098 billion. Compared to the same month last year, there was a 15.6% increase in the value of exports. Imports, in turn, fell 4.8%.

“Highlight the record for exports in the month of February. Exports grew 15.6%, compared to February last year. So, record for February for exports. Record for trade flow for the months of February. Brazil is integrating into the world like never before”, said Geraldo Alckmin, vice-president and minister of the MDIC, highlighting the record for exports for the month.

Also compared to last year, the Agriculture sector increased its exports by 6.1%with US$0.3 billion. The Extractive Industry grew 55.5%, worth US$2.37 billion.

There was an increase in exports in Asia to China, with 38.7%, and 126% to India. The total increase to the continent was 32.89%. In Europe, the increase was 33.56%, with emphasis on Germany, which had 70.7% growth.
