  • A man fell on a long metal pole at a construction site.
  • The object penetrated through his anus and into his abdominal cavity.
  • The patient suffered serious injuries for which he had to undergo surgery immediately.

This horrific incident took place during construction work and the victim was an unnamed 38-year-old man. He was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance after the pole penetrated approximately 30 centimeters deep through his anus into his body after an unfortunate fall.

Subsequent examinations showed that the foreign object caused massive bleeding in the anal canal, bladder and abdominal cavity. Several pelvic organs and the retroperitoneal space were also seriously damaged. The patient had to undergo several hours of surgery, during which surgeons discovered that the end of the rod was located dangerously close to the lower left rib area.

The man also suffered a three-centimeter contusion of the front wall of the anus and extensive damage to the left ureter – from the wall of the bladder to the renal pelvis. According to the medical report, he also had a tear in the wall of the left iliac artery, which was the main cause of the bleeding. If the doctors had not taken immediate action, he most likely would not have survived this devastating injury.

After the difficult procedure, the patient spent several days in the intensive care unit. Thanks to timely treatment, his condition was stabilized and the damaged organs gradually began to heal. It is unbelievable that he could be discharged home ten days after this difficult operation.
