The singer Barry Manilow82, stated that his battle with cancer It’s been “agony”, mainly because I’m away from the stage. The artist announced in December that he would need postpone his farewell tour after the discovery of a tumor in his left lung.
At the end of last month, he also had to reschedule some scheduled shows due to health issues. Despite the , Barry shared a message on social media to reassure fans.
“It’s been a long journey and because I don’t have patience, it’s been agony,” he confessed.
“But I’m getting stronger. I have great doctors and wonderful friends and family, but I can’t wait to get back on stage. What a time… speaking of which, that’s the name of my new album! It’s called ‘What a Time’. It’s coming out very soon and I can’t wait to show you these songs. So here’s to another century of making music together, my friends. All my love and gratitude.”
The music icon recorded the video to celebrate a new career milestone. The song “Once Before I Go” entered the Top 10 on the Adult Contemporary chart, an achievement that comes 52 years after her first big hit, 1974’s “Mandy”.
“You know, with everything that’s going on in the world, I wanted to stop by and share some good news. It’s actually great news. Our new single ‘Once Before I Go’ just entered the Top 10 of the pop charts. What do you think about this? I’m 100 years old and I have a single in the Top 10 of the pop charts… As my grandmother used to say, soon you’ll be walking on the moon,” joked the “Copacabana” singer.
In the video, Barry also thanked the radio stations for playing the track and the fans for requesting the song.
The artist revealed his lung cancer diagnosis in a recent post on his social media.
“As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis, followed by a five-week relapse. Even though I had recovered from the bronchitis and returned to the stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my excellent doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure everything was OK. The MRI revealed a cancerous lesion on my left lung that needed to be removed,” he said at the time.
