Three defendants go to jury for the death of lawyer Rodrigo Crespo in RJ

They will be judged this Thursday (5), from 9 am, three defendants charged with involvement in the death by lawyer Rodrigo Marinho Crespo. The session takes place at the 3rd Criminal Court of the TJRJ (Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro), located in the center of Rio.

The accused are military police officer Leandro Machado, as well as Eduardo Sobreira Moraes and Cezar Daniel Mondêgo de Souza. They were denounced on April 26 by GAECO/MPRJ (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime) and by the 4th Public Prosecutor’s Office for Specialized Criminal Investigation of the Capital, by crime of qualified homicide.

The case is analyzed by the Jury Court, responsible for judging intentional crimes against life.

According to the Public Ministry, the decision to pronounce the defendants on trial was based on evidence of authorship and materiality. gathered during the investigation. Among the elements cited are expert reports, witness statements, telematic analyzes and other data obtained throughout the investigation.

According to the complaint, it was motivated by interests related to the victim’s professional activities. The accusation points out that Crespo had contravened the interests of a linked criminal organization.

Still according to the process, the crime would have been committed through an ambush, after prior monitoring of the victim’s routine. The complaint also states that resources were used that made it difficult for the lawyer to defend himself at the time of the action. The trial takes place in a public session and it is up to the sentencing council to decide whether to convict or acquit the accused.
