Exchange of messages between founder of Master and Luiz Phillipi Machado de Moraes Mourão talks about transfer to “DCM and 2 other editors”; website denies
Messages intercepted by the (Federal Police) show that , founder of Banco Master, discussed possible monthly payments for the website DCM “and 2 other editors” to avoid the publication of negative reports.
is a left-wing website, aligned with the PT government, which presents itself as a media space “which filters and summarizes the most important facts of the day in the most diverse areas of interest to the public”in addition to “publish the analyzes and opinions of our team of journalists and bloggers”.
The exchange of messages was reproduced by the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) André Mendonça in the decision that authorized , within the scope of the Compliance Zero operation. Read the Mendonça decision (PDF – 384 kB).
Mourão was called “Sicário”, synonymous with “hired killer”, and, according to Mendonça, “played a central role in the operational coordination of an informal group called ‘A Turma’, a structure used to carry out surveillance activities, information collection and monitoring of individuals considered adversaries of the group”. According to the PF, the group worked to obstruct investigations against Vorcaro.
Mourão’s performance involved “the sending of institutional communications or documents without formal validation, with the aim of obtaining user data or promoting the removal of content considered harmful to the interests of the group”.
Mourão was arrested by the PF on Wednesday (4th March) and after trying to commit suicide in the corporation’s superintendency cell in Minas Gerais.
According to the PF investigation, Vorcaro made monthly payments of R$1 million to Mourão through his brother-in-law, Fabiano Zettel. Mourão explained to the banker what he did with the money he received: “He [ao que tudo indica, Fabiano Zettel] Send the monthly and I will divide it among the class. I send it to them. 400 I divide between 6. The boys I send 75 each, mine. DCM and two other editors. This is the monthly one. He sends 1 and when you send the bonus I divide it between the boys and the class”.
Still according to the decision, in another exchange of messages, Ana Claudia, identified as an employee of Vorcaro, asks the banker: “It will be 1 mm [milhão] as usual”. To which he responds: “Sim”. According to the PF, then, Ana Claudia “make the bank transfer and attach proof of payment of one million reais to the account indicated by Mourão. This account belongs to the company King Empreendimentos Imobiliários e Participações Ltda.”
“TO TOUCH THE TERROR IN THEM”
The newspaper columnist The Globe Malu Gaspar had access to other messages obtained by the PF in which the DCM is cited and published this Thursday (5th March).
In one of the messages mentioned, the banker proposed a partnership with the left-wing website, involving the payment of R$50,000 to remove reports considered negative for the founder of Banco Master.
According to the columnist, on October 10, 2024, Mourão sent Vorcaro two reports published by DCMconsidered to be “discrediting content”. One of them, dated October 9, 2024, was titled “Scams and manipulation: the troubled history of Banco Master and Daniel Vorcaro”.
The banker then wrote to Mourão: “We will focus on partnership [parceria] with this group. See a monthly value. Son [Não] A sentence can come out with my name or master”.
The following day, Mourão wrote again to Vorcaro about the matter: “Master, the DCM people are asking about the partnership, what do you say? I sent them a proposal yesterday”.
The owner of Master, according to the column, proposed paying R$50,000 a month. “You’re in charge, I’ll send the proposal”said “Sicário”.
On October 12, faced with a new negative report published on the website, Vorcaro responded: “These guys are not serious. Let’s go up […] Let’s put PF on these guys. They are not serious. Me making a partnership proposal. That doesn’t exist”.
Mourão would have replied that “They were asking for double the amount we offered. There is someone paying publishers to publish murders [matérias] yours and the bank’s”.
The banker writes that it was necessary “to strike terror into them” and added: “I’ve already made a move here. They think they’re messing with the boy. Now I don’t want any more [mais]”.
Mourão returned to the boss: “They are removing it. I just closed with them, nothing else will come out”.
OTHER SIDE
In a published on Wednesday (4th March), the DCM (Diário do Centro do Mundo) denies having received “resources, payments or any benefits” of people investigated by the PF operation.
“In the court document, there is a transcript of a private conversation in which the acronym ‘DCM’ appears. At no point does the decision identify this acronym as Diário do Centro do Mundo, nor does it mention the name of the vehicle, its corporate name (NN&A Produções Artísticas Ltda.) or any member of its team”the website said.
DCM added that “has published reports critical of banker Daniel Vorcaro” and the facts investigated. “It wouldn’t make any sense for someone to finance a vehicle that acts precisely as their public critic.”he stated.
