Canadian authorities crossed the body’s DNA with Letícia’s genetic samples and confirmed the identification
Brazilian Letícia Alves de Oliveira was found dead in a Canadian forestaccording to country authorities. Born in Goiânia, she had been missing since December 2023, when the family last had contact with Letícia.
Canadian authorities cross-referenced the body’s DNA with genetic samples from Letícia and confirmed the identification. The NGO Unidentified Human Remains Canada reported that Letícia’s body was found by hunters in a forest in Quebec, in eastern Canada. “On April 24, 2024, hunters found a female body in the woods, near the border of Vermont and New Hampshire, United States,” they wrote.
This week, the NGO posted on social media reporting the case. “The victim was wearing several items of clothing including a beanie, a winter coat, jeans, long wool socks and winter boots. An autopsy was performed and the probable cause of death was hypothermia.“, informed the NGO.
Letícia’s brother, Frederico Alves de Oliveira wrote about his sister and the Unidentified Human Remains Canada page shared the report. “It is very difficult to write about Letícia. The authorities gave us many contradictory information during these years“, wrote Frederico.
Letícia graduated in chemistry from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and had a master’s degree from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA). She was also the mother of a girl who is now 12 years old.
Also according to Frederico, Letícia’s Facebook account was mysteriously erased at the beginning of 2024where she kept in touch with her family in Brazil. The last reliable information provided to her family was that she was living in Boston, USA and was happy.
