Ludmilla expresses support for councilor Benny Briolly

Singer published a message on X after a discussion between Briolly and Fernanda Louback at the Niterói Chamber

The singer Ludmilla support on Thursday (5.mar.2026) for the councilor of Niterói (Psol-RJ) after one on Wednesday (4.mar) during a session at Niterói City Council. In a publication on X, the artist declared solidarity with the pre-candidate for federal deputy and criticized the attacks directed at her.

“Today my gratitude and solidarity goes to Benny Briolly, who was once again attacked and almost attacked for defending and highlighting the culture of black people. What should have been a moment for us to celebrate, became another episode of indignation. You are not alone. Up Benny!”he wrote.

In response, Benny Briolly thanked the singer for her support. “Count on us, Lud! Our fight is for a diverse country that recognizes the power of its people, especially the peripheral ones. We will never lower our heads, especially for those we have already defeated in justice and politics, and, if necessary, we will defeat again!”he wrote.

The demonstration was made after a session of the municipal Legislature marked by discussion during the vote on an honorary title granted to the singer. The debate ended in a verbal confrontation between councilors.

During the session, the councilor (PL-RJ) stated that he was the target of disrespectful attitudes on the part of Briolly while using his scheduled speaking time. According to her, the colleague had made gestures considered provocative and, at a certain point, said that she would be “barking”.

The episode was witnessed by other members of the Chamber and led to the presentation of a complaint against Briolly for breach of parliamentary decorum.

During the justification for voting against the proposal, Fernanda Louback stated that the singer had failed to comply with the law known as “”, which prohibits the use of public funds for shows in support of crime or drugs. The councilor referred to the content of the lyrics of Ludmilla’s songs, which was the attraction of New Year’s Eve in Niterói in 2026. She cited the singer’s hits such as “Throw it away” e “Green”and claimed that the singer was an advocate of crime and drugs.

“It’s impressive that today it seems like it’s a crime in Brazil for you to be white. I think that’s a crime today. You blame me for being born. In fact, my maternal grandfather is black. And the other side of the family is German. It’s a hell of a mix. Everyone in the country is mixed race. So, nowadays that’s a problem (…) I was against the title because of what was done in the city of Niterói. Do I know the singer there? I know what she did in my city, which was infringing a law of my own making 7 days after the sanction. This is a shame for the population of Niterói”, declared Fernanda Louback in Wednesday’s session.

Louback declared that he intends to maintain firm action in defending the rules approved by the House and in what he called respect for the institutional rules of the municipal Legislature.

The discussion intensified with Louback’s requests to be respected and moving towards Benny Briolly. Advisors intervened to prevent physical attacks. The Niterói Chamber session was then closed.
