The agency reported that the investigation was born from Henri Castelli’s ‘report of convulsive episodes’ and highlighted the conduct of the dynamics of the ‘White Room’
O Federal Public Ministry (MPF) determined this Thursday (5) the opening of a civil inquiry to investigate “possible practices of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment” no reality show Big Brother Brasil 26.
According to a statement, the MPF investigation was born out of “accounts of convulsive episodes experienced by the participant Henry Castelli during a resistance test” of the program.
The agency also drew attention to a dynamic called “White Room”where participants remained confined for a long period of time. The methodology of the “guard similarity to torture practices used during the dictatorship Brazilian civil-military”, highlighted the Special Commission on Political Deaths and Disappearances, in a letter sent to the MPF.
For the deputy regional prosecutor for Citizen’s Rights, Julio Araujo, “the conditions imposed by production expose the health of those involved to unnecessary risks”.
In a document sent to the MPF, the TV Globo stated that the recordings are subject to permanent medical monitoring and that Castelli was taken to external health facilities on two occasions.
The MPF, however, stated that “the normalization of suffering of others as a form of spectacle is incompatible with the fundamental objectives of the Republic to build a fair and supportive society”.
