The Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, stated that the trip he would take part in with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the United States scheduled for this month was suspended due to the conflict in Iran.
“We are in full negotiation due to the tariffs imposed in the United States, although they have already been reduced. We still have many issues to be discussed with the United States of common interest. (The president) asked me to accompany this trip, which was supposed to be in the second half of March, but due to the war this agenda was suspended”, Fávaro told journalists, behind the scenes of the launch of the Crédito Sebrae program in Mato Grosso, in Cuiabá.
Fávaro cited the trip to the United States when asked about his lack of compatibility with the ministry, as he will leave his position to run for re-election for the Senate in Mato Grosso. The deadline for leaving the post is April 4th.
“I don’t know exactly (the date). I’m waiting for President Lula’s decision, who had asked me to take another international trip with him, to the United States”, reported the minister. “However, there will no longer be any international travel. We have to wait for President Lula’s time to make things more compatible,” he added.

President Lula’s aides cite the possibility that the trip could be postponed until April.
