The president (PT) called his son, Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, last week, and asked him again to provide the necessary clarifications regarding any involvement with names investigated in fraud.
The call took place last Tuesday (3). It was the second conversation the two had during the investigation.
Sources familiar with the matter said, with reservations, that Lula tried to ask his son to “take upon himself” all responsibility for the case. The order, at Palácio do Planalto, is to prevent the matter from spilling over to the president.
Those around Lula know that the theme will be used by the opposition during the election campaign. The assessment, therefore, is that the quicker the president’s son clarifies what needs to be clarified, the better. Allies say it is essential to avoid exploitation of the issue by adversaries as much as possible.
After the two had their first conversation, Lula went public to say that his son will pay the price if he did anything. Last year, if he had any involvement.
. He is not investigated, but the suspicion is of an alleged connection between him and lobbyist Antonio Camilo Antunes, known as “Careca do INSS”.
