Loud explosions in Doha: Qatar reports deflected missile attack and high security threat

Several strong explosions rocked the Qatari metropolis of Doha on Tuesday morning, AFP reported, writes TASR. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said in a statement published on the X Network that it had “neutralized the missile attack”.

  • In the morning, several powerful rocket explosions were heard in the center of Doha, Qatar.
  • Qatari authorities briefly declared a high security threat and urged residents to stay at home.
  • Qatar accuses Iran of intensifying attacks on civilian infrastructure on its territory.
  • Iran’s military is attacking Israel, American interests, and neighboring Gulf states.
  • Iran calls the attacks retaliation and says it is not targeting Arab states.

At the time, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior reported a “high level of security threat” and urged residents to stay at home and stay away from windows. However, it later withdrew this call.

Iran is stepping up its attacks

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Iran had intensified its attacks on civilian infrastructure on Qatari territory.

“Attacks on civilian infrastructure continue,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Majeed Ansari said, adding that Qatar rejects the arguments used by Iran to justify its actions. The spokesman did not specify which civilian facilities in Qatar were targeted.

Conflict in the Persian Gulf

As part of the ongoing war in the Middle East, which began on February 28 with the attack of Israel and the US on Iran, the Iranian army is attacking not only Israel, but also American interests in the region and its neighbors in the Persian Gulf: Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, from where they report wounded civilians and damage to civilian infrastructure, including oil.

The Persian Gulf states have repeatedly condemned this Iranian aggression against the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, several Arab and Islamic countries and “allied nations”.

Iranian position

The Iranian leadership defends that its operations are in retaliation for attacks by the United States and Israel and that they are directed against their military infrastructure. However, according to Tehran, the responsibility must also be borne by the states that allow the operation of American forces on their territory, for example Qatar, Bahrain or the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, Iran claims that the Arab states themselves are not its goal and that it wants stability in the region.
