Minister of Labor participates in debate on the end of the 6×1 scale in the Chamber

Minister Luiz Marinho, of Labor and Employment, participates, this Tuesday (11), in the Chamber on the end of the 6×1 scale. This is the first in a series of public hearings to debate the topic.

The agenda is a priority for the government, especially with the elections approaching. The production sector, however, is against the change in working hours and points out the possible economic impact.

On the initiative of rapporteur Paulo Azi (União-BA), at least four public hearings will be held to discuss the matter, before the topic goes to deliberation. The end of the 6×1 work schedule is discussed within the scope of a PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution).

The rapporteur also intends to hear Finance Minister Fernando Haddad, as well as representatives of workers and productive sectors this month. Paulo Azi indicated that he wants to promote a “broad, qualified and democratic debate”.

The federal government is mobilizing to approve a proposal in the National Congress that puts an end to the 6×1 scale. The Executive was studying sending a bill with constitutional urgency, but the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), anticipated it and forwarded the proposal to the CCJ.

The initiative, which gained popular appeal last year, is . Hugo Motta expects the proceedings in the Chamber to be completed in May this year.

The proposal has mobilized authorities in Brasília and representatives of the productive sector. The government, which is pushing for the end of the 6×1 scale, also has a meeting pending with the Legislative command to discuss the matter.
