PGR calls for conviction of deputies for deviations from amendments – 03/10/2026 – Politics

The (Attorney General’s Office) asked the First Panel of the (Supreme Federal Court) to sentence three PL deputies for passive corruption and criminal organization, due to parliamentarians.

The demonstration was made this Tuesday morning (10), during the session in which the collegiate judged deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho (PL-MA) and Pastor Gil (PL-MA) and alternate Bosco Costa (PL-SE), defendants in the criminal action.

According to the complaint offered by the PGR, the scheme involved an attempt to extort the City of São José do Ribamar so that 25% of the amount sent to the municipality, the third most populous in Maranhão, would be returned to parliamentarians.

“The documents seized in the investigation corroborate the accusation that the defendants formed an organization dedicated to the allocation of parliamentary amendments in exchange for bribes,” said deputy attorney general Paulo Jacobina, who represents the PGR in the trial.

According to him, Maranhãozinho had a leadership position in the scheme, which operated between 2019 and 2021. The organization also had the participation of advisors and intermediaries, who played the role of “collectors” with municipal managers.

Jacobina stated that the evidence collected during the investigation demonstrated an “ordered structure with a clear division of tasks”, which characterizes the criminal organization, and that this demands a “firm response to punish those responsible”.

The deputy prosecutor highlighted that the investigation into São José do Ribamar revealed evidence that the group also charged bribes from other municipalities, which is being investigated within the scope of “other procedures still in progress”.

Maranhãozinho maintains that there is no evidence that he requested a bribe. Gil says that the PGR made a biased interpretation of the evidence. Costa also denies having acted to obtain advantages. The three ask for the evidence to be nullified.

As shown by Sheetthe First Panel of parliamentarians, establish severe penalties and signal that the court’s response to this type of practice will be strict in similar cases.

This is the first action on amendment deviations submitted to the collegiate since the beginning of the minister’s offensive for more transparency in the execution of funds. Therefore, it is considered by congressmen to be a thermometer regarding the position of the STF.

The case report is from the minister. In addition to him and Dino, the minister and the minister vote. Three votes are needed to establish conviction. After that, the Class discusses the dosimetry of penalties.
