Firefighter from Machico who attacked woman in front of her son returns to work by court order

Supreme rejects the request for liberation of a man who beaten the woman in Machico

The reinstatement occurs after the victim asks for forgiveness in a letter to the Court, claiming that it was an isolated act and that the husband is a good father. The court suspended the process for a year, making the decision conditional on treatment for the attacker’s alcoholism.

The Madeira firefighter will return to work . Reinstatement takes place by court order.

The images of the attack on the woman in front of her nine-year-old son shook the country in August last year. The attacker, a firefighter in Machico, was in pre-trial detention, who was then placed under house arrest until he was released in December.

And now he’s back at the fire department to take the place he had before he was arrested and accused of domestic violence.

The reinstatement was decided by court order because nothing was found that would prevent the firefighter from returning to being a firefighter, as he is, before the law, a free man since his wife excused him. Forgiveness was requested by the victim in a letter addressed to the court.

The woman claimed that it was an isolated act and that her husband had always been a good father and a good husband. He also said that the attacks were limited to a punch and that the son was suffering from being away from his father.

The condition he imposed was that the attacker undergo treatment for alcoholism. In light of these developments, the court suspended for a year the process in which the Machico firefighter is accused of two crimes of domestic violence against his wife and child.
