João Fonseca made observations after losing to Jannik Sinner in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells. This Tuesday (10), the Brazilian played a great game, but ended up defeated by number 2 in the ATP rankings by 2 sets to 0, with scores of 7/6 (8-6) and 7/6 (7-4).
The 19-year-old understands that he is capable of competing with the , but still needs to evolve in aspects of his own game.
“I think my level is quite good. I can face these guys (the leaders of the ranking). I can play great matches. But there are always small details, small important things that you need to work on every day. These details are very important, like the way Sinner played the decisive points, how he handled the situation. So, of course I need a lot of experience, but I think the level is already there. I’m happy with the way I played”, said the player, at a press conference.
The Indian Wells campaign was the best recorded by João Fonseca in a Masters 1000 tournament. Throughout the tournament, he eliminated Belgian Raphael Collignon, oeo.

The Brazilian will return to the court at the Masters 1000 in Miami, in the United States. The tournament will start on March 18th.
