Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's new supreme leader, makes official statement on the war

Iran’s new supreme leader, the Ayatollah Mojtaba Khameneibroke the silence this Thursday (12/03) with his first official message since taking charge of the country.

Through his official Telegram channel, his successor called on the nation to maintain “firmity against the enemy” amid the escalation of the war against the United States and Israel.

The publication carries strong religious and political symbolism, including the names of his predecessors: his father, Ali Khamenei, and the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ruhollah Khomeini.

“We do not revoke any verse without presenting a better or similar one,” wrote the leader, citing the Quran to justify his transition to power.

Homage to the father and martyrdom

In an emotionally charged text, Mojtaba offered condolences on the death of his father, whom he called a “mountain of steadfastness”. He revealed that he had seen Ali Khamenei’s body after the martyrdom and highlighted that the late leader’s hand remained “clenched into a fist”, symbolizing continued resistance.

Call to Unity and Resistance

The statement was divided into strategic points to guide the population during the conflict:

  • Divine Trust: He pointed to faith as Iran’s competitive advantage over its enemies.

  • National Unity: He asked that internal differences be put aside to preserve the country’s strength.

  • Public Presence: He emphasized that the people must act in all spheres — from education to security — to guarantee the effectiveness of the government.

  • Solidarity: He requested that institutions and citizens support each other, especially those most affected by the recent bombings.

Thanks to the fighters

In the final part of his speech, Mojtaba thanked the “courageous fighters” who block the enemy’s path. He reinforced that Western powers live under the “illusion” that they can dominate or divide the Iranian homeland, and predicted a definitive victory based on the perseverance of the people.
