In September 2025, the life of Zlatica Švajdová Puškárová changed a lot. Her son Leo (16) headed to the north of Europewhere he won a place in a prestigious hockey club. For those closest to him, it meant an immediate jump into a new carousel and quickly getting used to the regular routine commuting between Slovakia and Scandinavia.
Since Leo is still a teenager, his parents didn’t want him to be alone in a foreign world. In Sweden, they created an environment for him where he feels at home. Not only Zlatica and her husband regularly take turns with the young hockey player, but also the self-sacrificing grandparents help. The whole family must work like a well-oiled machine according to a precisely set calendar.
The young man got used to the new environment very quickly. Despite the huge competition, thanks to his talent, he manages to make a significant impact, which is also confirmed by official statistics. This is because he regularly appears on the highest ranks in the player rating and points are added to his account, which make him the mainstay of the team.
Swedish lifestyle
The presenter herself openly admitted that the Swedish movement culture motivated her to take a more active approach to her own health. “I would never have thought that I would go to the gym in Sweden, and even with joy,” she said on Instagram on Wednesday. Sport in the Nordic country is not the privilege of the chosen ones, but a natural part of life for everyone. “Everybody exercises here – young people, parents even come here with their children after work, and what is extraordinary, a lot of elderly people exercise. The premises are also adapted for the physically challenged.” she emphasized.
Puškárová realizes that living with an athlete under one roof naturally affects the whole family and sets the bar high for each of its members. She doesn’t want to fall behind her son either. “I’m an athlete’s mom, I have to work hard too,” she pointed out with great determination.
