An American refueling plane crashed in western Iraq, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced this Thursday, adding that the loss of the KC-135 “was not caused by enemy or friendly fire”.

“Rescue operations are ongoing,” Centcom added in a statement, noting that another aircraft involved in the accident landed safely.

Centcom also said that the incident “occurred in friendly airspace during Operation Epic Fury”, in which the US and Israel have been attacking Iran.
