Protesters invaded a Communist Party office in the city of Morón, central Cuba. The protest was motivated by the constant power cuts that affect the Cuban population. According to the state newspaper invader, The act began peacefully on Friday night (13 March), but evolved into clashes during the early hours of the morning. The act was also confirmed by the agency Reuters.
Images circulating on social media show people throwing stones at the windows of a building and setting it on fire. Protesters screamed “freedom” in the background. The building is the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party in Morón.

According to the Invaderprotesters attacked other state establishments in the area. Among them are a pharmacy and a government market.
Public protests are rare in Cuba. Its 2019 constitution grants citizens the right to demonstrate, but a law more specifically defining this right is stalled in the National Assembly.
