Retired Bahian civil police officer Antenor dos Santos Evangelista, aged 72, was killed last Friday (13), during a criminal action in the municipality of Santo Estêvão, close to Feira de Santana.
Two suspects were located by the Military Police and also died during the confrontation.
The Civil Police of the State of Bahia is investigating the case registered as a homicide to identify other possible parties involved in the crime.
The agents located one of the suspects in the municipality of Rafael Jambeiro, 190 km away from Salvador.
He was hit during the approach and was taken to a hospital, . At the scene, police seized a firearm, cell phones, pieces of clothing and a motorcycle used in the escape.
At another time, a second individual, who was seen in the same city where the incident occurred shot at the police and also succumbed to his injuries. With him, two .38 caliber revolvers, ammunition, portions of marijuana and cocaine, a scale, packaging used in the production of drugs and cash were seized.
The action was conducted by the Santo Estêvão Territorial Police Station, linked to the 1st Regional Interior Police Coordination (1st Coorpin/Feira de Santana), with support from intelligence and operational units in the sector and the state Military Police.

Antenor dos Santos Evangelista joined the Civil Police of Bahia in 1980, dedicating 34 years of his professional career to public service and the defense of Bahian society. His first assignment was at the Interior Police Department (Depin/Serrinha), where he carried out his duties with commitment, responsibility and public spirit. He retired with the Territorial Police Station (DT/Santo Estêvão) as his last unit of activity, where he left a legacy of dedication to the institution.
The Civil Police of Bahia also informs that it works in an integrated manner with the Public Security Secretariat and the other security forces in the State. Teams are mobilized in the region, committed to identifying, locating and capturing those responsible for the crime, reaffirming the State’s commitment to holding those involved accountable and preserving public order.
In light of this loss, the Civil Police of Bahia expresses its solidarity with family and friends, hoping that they find support, serenity and comfort in this time of mourning.
