Truck with 101kg of marijuana is seized on BR-116 and driver is arrested

A truck carrying more than 100kg of marijuana was seized in Régis Bittencourt Highway (BR-116), in São Lourenço da Serrain Greater São Paulo, on Saturday night (14). The driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested for drug trafficking.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), agents received a report stating that a truck was traveling along the road in the North direction carrying suspicious cargo. Based on the information, the police went to the highway and carried out a patrol.

At the scene, the team identified the vehicle with the same characteristics described and decided to carry out the approach.

During the inspection of the vehicle, which was transporting barrels of polymeric paste, the agents found, at the bottom of the trunk and in one of the corners of the cargo, several wrappers packed in plastic bags. In total, approximately 101 kilos of the drug were located.

The suspect was taken to the police station and the seized substance was sent to the Criminalistics Institute for examination, which confirmed that it was marijuana.

The case was registered as drug trafficking at the São Lourenço da Serra Police Station.
