The inmate was responsible for the longest case of false imprisonment in the State of São Paulo, in October 2008, which resulted in the death of Eloá Pimentel after an exchange of gunfire
Lindemberg Alves, convicted to 39 years and three months for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Eloá Pimentel, he requested to Justice to reduction of sentence. The request is based on the convict’s participation in Enem 2025, carried out while serving his sentence at Penitentiary II in Tremembé, in the interior of São Paulo.
In the process, lawyer Marcia Renata da Silva argues that Lindemberg “has always demonstrated proactivity in his studies, dedicating himself to intellectual improvement and the resocialization process”. “How did he reached the average in four areasthe partial benefit of 80 days was requested”, he explained to Estadão.
She added that, although the execution court did not grant the benefit immediately, it is possible to appeal to the São Paulo Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, which have already authorized remission in similar cases. “Lindemberg has the same right, as he dedicated himself to his studies and maintains good prison conduct,” he said.
The Public Ministry of São Paulo (MP-SP) expressed opposition to the request. The prosecution argues that reducing the sentence requires a minimum score of 450 in all areas of the exam and 500 in the essay. As Lindemberg obtained 361.6 in Mathematics, the MP argues that partial redemption should not be granted. The request does not yet have a date to be judged by the Court.
Prison monitored in real time
Lindemberg was responsible for the longest case of false imprisonment in the State of São Paulofollowed in real time throughout the country. On October 13, 2008, the production assistant broke into a apartment in Santo Andréwhere four teenagers studied, and took his ex-girlfriend Eloá hostage, 15 years old, her friend, Nayara Rodrigues da Silva, as well as two boys, because he was unhappy with the end of the relationship.
The two boys were released on the same day, but the young women remained at gunpoint until the Special Tactical Actions Group (Gate) raided on October 17. During the action, shots hit Eloá and Nayara; Lindemberg was detained without injury, but Eloá died.
