Velloso says that Mailza invited him to run for the Senate and left UB so as not to cause discomfort

Velloso diz que Mailza o convidou para disputa ao Senado

In an interview with the portal’s Em Cena podcast, this Monday (16), the federal deputy and pre-candidate for the Senate, detailed the behind-the-scenes of his political trajectory and his relationship with the vice-governor.

The parliamentarian, who left União Brasil and is in Solidariedade, recalled the period in which the viability of the government group was in question and highlighted his loyalty to the project from the beginning.

“There was a moment when Senator Márcio Bittar started to walk with Bocalom, once again presenting a viability for the government. Do you remember that? And then, at that moment — when no one believed in Mailza’s candidacy — I believed in Mailza’s candidacy. And we got closer. And she, at that moment there, right, was in need of a candidate for the Senate. And I made myself available. One of the calls was… it was like this… we had very advanced conversations along those lines. We talked several times. I didn’t I only took this from Eduardo because he wants to. I was called by several leaders, by several leaders, including,” said Velloso.

The deputy highlighted that his adherence was not an isolated movement, but rather the construction of a commitment to the future of the state, feeling like a fundamental part of the current administration.

“So, like that, and this makes you part of a project. And we believe in that. And so much so that I feel part of the government. We helped to elect this government”, pointed out the parliamentarian during the interview.

When asked about the fact that the vice-governor had supported Marcio Bittar’s candidacy, even after Velloso had received approval from the national executive of União Brasil via Antônio Rueda, the deputy denied that he had suffered a political trip. He explained that his departure from the acronym was a strategic gesture to preserve the ally.

“No, she didn’t say that. [que não daria o aval]. No, I didn’t even want to give that opportunity. No… I don’t see it that way. I realized that she… and you know that everything is a group, do you agree with me? Everything is group. Right? Imagine you, a father and a mother, wanting to force your son to marry someone he doesn’t want. That’s more or less it. Did you understand? So, I decided… to avoid making her uncomfortable, I decided to leave her alone. Because from the moment I am inside União Brasil, this would leave discomfort inside. First is this. Second: in União Brasil I didn’t feel part of a party construction”, he concluded.
