The First Panel of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) sentenced this Tuesday (17) two federal deputies and a PL deputy for the crime of passive corruption.
By 4 votes to 0, the board formed a unanimous score to accept the accusation of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho (PL-MA), Pastor Gil (PL-MA), as well as substitute Bosco Costa (PL-SE), for charging bribes for the release of parliamentary amendments.
According to the accusation, between January and August 2020, the deputies requested an undue advantage of R$1.6 million to release R$6.6 million in amendments for the municipality of São José de Ribamar (MA).
The vote of the rapporteur, minister Cristiano Zanin, prevailed in the trial. Zanin said that there is robust evidence that the accused committed a crime of passive corruption by requesting the payment of bribes to the then mayor of the municipality José Eudes, who reported the case.
The understanding was followed by ministers Alexandre de Moraes, Cármen Lúcia and Flávio Dino.
The board also decided to acquit the defendants of the charge of criminal organization.
