Dubai was rocked early Wednesday morning by powerful explosions in Iran’s attacks on Gulf countries. Local authorities talk about successful air defense.
Several powerful explosions were heard early Wednesday morning in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), AFP journalists said, in retaliation for Iran’s attacks on Gulf countries, TASR writes.
The Dubai Media Authority, according to Al Jazeera’s website, said authorities in the city confirmed that the explosions heard in various parts of the city were the result of “successful air defense operations.”
Air defense reacts
This information was also confirmed by the UAE Ministry of Defense. It reported that air defenses are “responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran,” noting that since the start of the US-Israel war against Iran, Tehran has fired and sent more than 2,000 missiles or drones at the UAE.
Authorities did not say anyone was killed or injured in the latest strikes.
Bahrain issues a warning
The Bahraini Ministry of the Interior, in turn, called on residents to “move to the nearest safe place” as sirens warning of attacks were sounded in that country as well.
The armed forces said their air defense systems had successfully neutralized 129 Iranian missiles and 233 drones since the start of the war, al-Jazeera added.
