President of the PT addressed the advancement of conservative agendas and answered questions about economics and politics
The PT president, 60 years old, gave a lecture on Tuesday (17 March 2026) to the 2nd class of the Journalism Trainee Program at PT. Poder360. It addressed the scenario of political polarization and the challenges for the 2026 elections.
When dealing with the current context, Edinho spoke about the advancement of conservative agendas and their relationship with racist and xenophobic speeches. He also commented on economic issues and the internal organization of the PT. The leader answered questions from trainees about different aspects of national politics.
Edinho has an established career in politics. He was mayor of Araraquara (SP) for 4 terms and minister of the Secretariat of Social Communication in the government of (PT), from 2015 to 2016. Close to the president (PT), he is one of the main articulators of the government camp, with influence on electoral strategies and the formation of alliances.

Fifteen professionals to participate in the program, which lasts 3 months – from January to April 2026. In addition to the course, they will follow the daily work routine of journalists from the Newsroom. Poder360with whom they will learn in practice how to do good journalism in the country’s capital. The classes are coordinated by Vivaldo de Sousa, who worked in several media outlets, including as economics coordinator for the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. He is currently a journalism consultant and professor.
The program focuses on covering issues of public interest and journalistic relevance. In addition to putting trainees in touch with the basic concepts about the Three Powers, the course covers relevant topics such as economy, agribusiness, energy, infrastructure and health. The program includes lectures, training sessions, visits to companies and official bodies, trips and participation in the editorial team’s routine. Poder360.
