Senator, who is part of the former president’s defense, said he had an “objective conversation” with the STF minister
The senator and pre-candidate for President (PL-RJ) stated that he met, on Tuesday (17 March 2026), with Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, to reiterate the request for house arrest for the former president (PL). He spoke to journalists at the entrance to the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília, where his father is treating a .
“It was an objective conversation, like lawyers who requested a hearing with the judge of the case. We explained our reasons and he, at an opportune moment, was left to evaluate this new request from the defense. There was no deadline for a decision”said the senator, who is part of the former president’s defense.
On Tuesday (17th March), 4 days after Jair Bolsonaro, his defense to the STF minister for granting house arrest to the former president. The lawyers ask Moraes to reconsider the decision taken on March 4 and mention “the severity and rapid evolution of the clinical picture” of Bolsonaro.
The defense stated that “the current regime for serving the sentence, even though it has a medical team on call, is not capable of ensuring continuous monitoring or immediate response from a health team in the event of a sudden illness, significantly increasing the clinical risk involved”.
Flávio said that his father has been well treated in Papudinha, where he is imprisoned, and that he was attended to promptly when he felt unwell, but he sees a risk in the lack of constant monitoring in prison, especially at night.

Bolsonaro has been admitted to the DF Star Hospital since March 13, after feeling suddenly unwell at around 2 am in the 19th Military Police Battalion, known as Papudinha, where he is serving a sentence of 27 years and 3 months in a closed regime.
