Will the Czech Republic give Slovakia a helping hand? The strategic agreement on the supply of oil and gas is about to fall!

The Czech Republic could help Slovakia with securing oil and gas supplies. Vladimír Slezák, vice president of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), discussed the possibilities of how to achieve a safer position for Slovakia in these supplies with Jan Sechter, deputy minister of industry and trade of the Czech Republic. SOPK informed about it on the social network.

  • The Czech Republic is considering helping Slovakia in securing oil and gas supplies.
  • Vladimír Slezák discussed energy security with Deputy Minister Jan Sechter.
  • The plan envisages the extension of the oil pipeline from the Czech Republic to Odessa.
  • Oil would flow through the ports of Trieste and Adria towards Slovakia.
  • The governments will decide on a concrete solution at a joint meeting in late March or early April.

“One of the offers is that a ‘pipe’ would stretch from the Czech Republic, let’s say, to Odesa, so that the whole of Eastern and Southern Europe would be in a safe position, with the oil being secured via Trieste or Adria, via Croatia, and then it would reach us and the surrounding countries,” explained the vice president of SOPK.

“We’ll see how it goes it will be decided at the meeting between the two governments, which should be at the end of March or the beginning of April, and then we will arrange accordingly,” Slezák zoomed in. A concrete plan to achieve this should be decided by politicians at a joint meeting of both governments in a few weeks.
