The objective is to protect the most vulnerable families. To benefit from the support, beneficiaries of minimum social benefits or social electricity tariff must present their gas bill to the parish councils.
The program, which has been suspended since January, will resume on March 26th. The initial support was R$10 per cylinder and, in 2025, it increased to R$15.
Now, because of the military conflict in the Middle East, the Government has increased support to 25 euros. But despite this help, there are still many eligible beneficiaries who do not take advantage of it.
In 2025, support reached just over 105 thousand families. TBearing in mind that there are 732 thousand beneficiaries of the social energy tariff and, of these, around 366 thousand use bottled gas, less than 1/3 of those who benefit from the measure.
With a bottle of butane costing, on average, 35 euros, but with a strong upward trend influenced by the recent increase in gas prices in international markets, the reinforcement of 10 euros in support for the purchase of a monthly gas cylinder for lower-income families is planned, for now, for a temporary period of three months.
