Leitão Amaro warns that “those who prefer illegality or being placed in the hands of illegal immigration networks must have a consequence for illegality”.
The Government approved this Thursday the new proposal for law of return what a visa “accelerate the removal of foreigners found and identified in situation irregular” in the country, after having been in public consultation.
At the press conference held after the Council of Ministers, the Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, considered how “very necessary” the law that establishes the new regime for the return of foreign citizens in an illegal situation, maintaining that it is “a very important reform” and “widely discussed in Portuguese society”.
“Whoever prefers illegality or being placed in the hands of illegal immigration networks There has to be a consequence to illegality” and “this means a much faster clearance”, stated Leitão Amaro.
Renewable energy
While announcing to protect consumers with lower incomes, in the event of an energy crisis, Leitão Amaro also focused on renewable energy.
The Government will simplify o licensing of installations renewable energy productioncreate zones to accelerate the installation of renewable energy centers and streamline the management of electrical grid capacity so that new producers can take advantage of emission licenses that are not being used.
The minister explained that this set of measures is intended to reinforce sovereignty and make the country more energy secure, thus avoiding disruption in international markets, with the rise in oil and gas prices as a result of the conflict in the Middle East.
A second measure, also approved this Thursday, provides for the licensing exemption advance in production units to self-consumption up to 800 kilowatts (kW), in order to accelerate the entry into operation of energy-producing communities (on the roofs of houses and factories, for example) close to consumption sites.
Azores
On another matter, the Minister of the Presidency denied this Thursday categorically have any information about the need to financial rescue to the Autonomous Region of Azores, although he recognizes that the regional government faces challenges, which he attributed “to decades of a certain management style”.
The leader of the PS/Azores, Francisco César, the party that governed the archipelago in recent decades and which is now in opposition, warned of a “very high” probability of needing financial rescue of the Portuguese State, if an “expense problem” is not resolved “very quickly” in the Autonomous Region.
“I categorically deny it any information on that basis. I refer this to regional party politics. We do not have any information of this type regarding the need for financial rescue and distressed accounts”, said António Leitão Amaro, at the same press conference.
The regional Finance Secretary, Duarte Freitas, also guaranteed that the financial rescue “will not happen”.
