Thursday was essentially Austrian evening in the European Football Cup. Coach Oliver Glasner with Crystal Palace and FSV Mainz with Stefan Posch, Philipp Mwene and Nikolas Veratschnig made it to the quarter-finals of the Football Conference League. Crystal Palace won the second leg of the round of 16 at AEK Larnaca 2-1 after extra time. Mainz defeated Sigma Olomouc 2-0, not least thanks to a Posch goal. In the Europa League, Freiburg with Philipp Lienhart (from 81st) beat Genk (with goalkeeper Tobias Lawal) 5-1.
