To Prime Time Zone, the president of the PL said that the senator is ‘very welcome, but stated that she said she prefers the Senate
The president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, stated this Thursday (19) to Jovem Pan that senator Tereza Cristina (PP-MS) does not want to be Flávio Bolsonaro’s vice-president. “She is very welcome, but her project is the Senate”said the PL leader, who assesses that senator brings together political and electoral qualities that would strengthen the ticket, especially due to its connection with agribusiness and good dialogue in Congress. Even so, party interlocutors say that the senator maintains her focus on remaining in the Legislature, where she believes she will have a greater role.
Despite the support, the parliamentarian has already signaled that he does not intend to participate in the dispute as vice president and that, as Valdemar mentioned, his priority is trying to be re-elected. The party, linked to former president Jair Bolsonaro, seeks to structure a competitive candidacy, with the definition of names still open and dependent on political agreements and the final design of alliances.
A eventual Flávio Bolsonaro’s candidacy is treated as a possibility within the Bolsonarist political group, but it has not yet been made official. Behind the scenes, party leaders work to put together a ticket with electoral appeal and the ability to expand allianceswhile leaders, like Tereza Cristina, define their own political projects for the next electoral cycle.
