Nike and the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) presented this Saturday (21) the number 1 shirt that will be worn by the Brazilian team in the World Cup. Yellow, the uniform seeks to revive the team’s tradition.
According to the team’s sponsor, the new shirt “reframes national symbols through bold design, innovation in performance and cultural pride, reinforcing the team’s unmistakable presence on the global stage.”
The piece features the tone that the company calls “canary yellow”, as well as geometric elements inspired by the Brazilian flag. On the inside of the collar there is the inscription “Vai Brasa”, which, says the company, reinforces the emotional connection between the team and the fans.”
“Wearing the yellow shirt is always special. It represents our history and the joy of playing football the Brazilian way. When we play with freedom and confidence, this joy turns into our strength on the field”, says Estevão, Chelsea striker and one of the poster boys of the launch campaign.
The launch of a more traditional piece comes after the sponsor has dared with other pieces. The number 2 shirt that will be used at the World Cup, for example, is made by Jordan, a partnership between former basketball player Michael Jordan’s brand and the sports equipment company.
The new number one shirt should be worn for the first time in the friendly against Croatia, on the 31st of this month. Before, against France, the team will take to the field dressed in the blue uniform.
