Minister of Indigenous Peoples is at InCor, in São Paulo; medical team investigates whether there is an infectious condition
The Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sonia Guajajara, 52 years old, is admitted to the (Instituto do Coração), in São Paulo. According to what was published on her Instagram profile this Sunday (March 22, 2026), she felt unwell, had a high fever and abdominal pain. There is suspicion of “infectious condition, still under investigation”.
According to the statement, the minister remains hospitalized under observation for further examinations. The note does not indicate the day on which Guajajara was admitted.
The service is led by cardiologist Sérgio Timerman and infectious disease specialist Rinaldo Focaccia Siciliano. The note states that “new updates on the minister’s health status will be released as per the team’s guidance”.
